One man dead in Highway 6 collision

RCMP from Stonewall responded to a fatal collision late Tuesday afternoon on Highway 6.

It happened just before 5:00 pm on August 20, 2019 on Highway 6 near Road 79 N.

Police say an SUV being driven by an 81-year-old Eriksdale man was travelling northbound on Highway 6 when he tried to overtake another vehicle. When the driver pulled into the oncoming lane to pass he collided with a southbound pickup truck.

The driver of the SUV died in the collision. The 52-year-old driver of the pickup was taken to hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries.

RCMP say that both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision.

The investigation continues.
