RCMP are investigating the cause of a fatal collision just east of Steinbach that claimed the life of an 81-year-old female.
Police say that around 6:30 pm on Sunday, February 16, 2020, a westbound SUV travelling on Highway 52 attempted to pass another vehicle when it collided head-on with a car heading east.
The 78-year-old driver of the car was taken to hospital in critical condition. His 81-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 29-year-old male driver of the SUV suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital.
Police say that charges are pending against the 29-year-old.
