According to police a westbound car failed to stop at the intersection and slammed into a northbound vehicle. The 81-year-old driver of the westbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a 50-year-old female and the 49-year-old driver of the northbound vehicle were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Everyone involved in the collision were wearing seatbelts and alcohol is not considered a factor in the crash.
