One dead in Highway 59 collision

RCMP say that a 50-year-old male is dead after a pickup truck crossed the centre line and collided with the vehicle he was driving.

Just before 8: 00 pm on Friday, November 16, 2018, police say that a southbound pickup truck being driven by a 30-year-old male with a 31-year-old passenger onboard crossed over the centreline of Highway 59 just north of Highway 12. The southbound vehicle collided with a northbound pickup truck killing the driver and seriously injuring the two passengers, a 39-year-old-male and a 38-year-old female.

The driver of the southbound truck and his passenger were also seriously injured in the crash. Police say that the four injured people were taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the northbound truck was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say that they believe alcohol was a factor in the collision.

RCMP continue to investigate
