On-duty police officers with the Winnipeg Police Service were involved in a two-vehicle collision on the Trans Canada Highway east of Winnipeg on January 31, 2023.
RCMP say that a vehicle travelling westbound on Highway 1 was hit when a second vehicle entered the highway from a parked position.
The 22-year-old driver of the westbound vehicle was from Alberta. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The two officers were taken to a Winnipeg hospital where they were treated and released.
RCMP reported the incident to the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba who have taken a monitoring role during the investigation.
Police continue to investigate.
