On-duty Brandon police officer accused of speeding near Headingley

The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) is investigating an incident involving an on-duty Brandon Police Service officer.

On October 26, 2021, Brandon Police Service received a complaint about one of their officers allegedly driving a police vehicle at an excessive speed on Highway 1 near Headingley. The complainant alleged that on top of the excessive speed the officer was following too closely causing concern to other motorists.

The civilian director of the IIU has determined it is in the public interest to investigate the incident.
