Officers use Naloxone to revive drug users

Winnipeg Police Service say that on two separate occasions in less than seven hours officers used naloxone to revive unresponsive people.

At 7:20 pm on December 6, 2021, officers on foot patrol near Portage Avenue and Main Street came across a male in an outside stairwell. The male was showing signs of recent drug use and was not breathing.

The officers administered two doses of naloxone and performed CPR. The male was revived and taken to hospital in stable condition.

About seven hours later at 1:45 am on December 7, 2021, police were called to conduct a wellbeing check at a residence on Sackville Street. When officers arrived they found an unresponsive female.

It took three doses of naloxone to revive the woman. She was taken to hospital in stable condition.
