A 28-year-old Winnipeg man is facing a slew of firearm and drug trafficking charges after being arrested at a grocery store on McPhillips Street, according to the Winnipeg Police Service.
On March 30, 2025, at approximately 6:49 p.m., officers working a special duty assignment at a grocery store in the 2100 block of McPhillips Street encountered an adult male who they believed to be a suspect in an unrelated firearm incident.
The suspect, identified as Brenden Carl Packulak, was arrested without incident. A subsequent search revealed a loaded 9mm Glock handgun, a high-capacity 9mm magazine, approximately 4.42 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of $353, approximately 260 hydromorphone pills with an estimated street value of $5,200, approximately $407 in Canadian currency, and a cell phone.
Packulak has been charged with numerous offences for his alleged involvement, including:
- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – COCAINE
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Hydromorphone
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
Packulak was detained in custody.
