On April 11, 2023, Winnipeg Police Service officers on patrol found a 38-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower body in the 500 block of Furby Street.

Officers provided emergency medical care including the use of a tourniquet. The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition but later upgraded to stable.

According to investigators,  the victim was visiting a suite in the area when a dispute involving a male and female erupted. The incident escalated and the female shot the victim in the lower body the male then assaulted the victim with a knife to the upper body. The victim fled shortly before officers were flagged down.

Both suspects were arrested and charged with a number of weapon-related offences.

Both suspects were detained in custody
