A Winnipeg Police Service officer was injured on Saturday afternoon, November 27, 2021, after pulling over a stolen vehicle on Winnipeg Avenue.
Police say the officer was talking to the driver when the driver put the vehicle into gear in an attempt to flee. The officer was dragged about six feet before falling to the ground. She was treated in hospital and released.
Police were able to find and stop the vehicle near Arlington Street and Logan Avenue but the occupants fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit the male driver and female passenger were taken into custody.
A search of the vehicle located a sawed-off rifle.
Allan Michael James Wood, age 30, has been charged for his alleged involvement with 38 offences including Multiple firearms offences, Assault Peace Officer, Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer, Multiple breaches of court orders.
Alice Beverly Cameron, 47 was charged for her alleged involvement with eight offences.
Wood and Cameron were both detained in custody.
