On Wednesday, September 14, 2022, An RCMP officer responded to a disturbance in Lowe Farm. A man was walking on Main Street, screaming and smashing vehicles with a metal bar.
As the first officer arrived on the scene he located the suspect who then began yelling at and threatening the officer and other people nearby. The officer told the suspect that he was under arrest but the man refused to listen to the officer’s commands. The suspect then assaulted the officer with the metal bar. The officer was able to back away and hit the man with OC (pepper) spray but it had little effect. The suspect eventually dropped the bar and the officer with help from several bystanders was able to get control of the suspect and place him into handcuffs.
The officer was treated at the scene for the injuries he sustained during the attack and released
37-year-old Trevor Guenther has been charged for his alleged involvement with Assault on a Police Officer with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and two counts of Mischief.
He was detained in custody
