Winnipeg Police have arrested the man they say is responsible for dragging a Winnipeg Police officer behind a stolen vehicle in an attempt to flee from an arrest.
The officer from the K9 unit suffered non-life threatening injuries.
On Sunday, September 23, 2018, police located a Ford Focus, that had been stolen the day before, in the 300 block of Beliveau Road. A female inside the vehicle was arrested. Inside the home at that location officers found a 37-year-old male and placed him under arrest.
According to p0lice, the man was responsible for the injury to their officer.
Ian Thomas Shupena is facing a number of charges for his alleged involvement including:
- Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 X2
- Assault Peace Officer with a Weapon
- Escape Lawful Custody
- Resist Peace Officer X2
- Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer
Jade Lilian Shuman, 26 from Winnipeg has been charged with Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 for her alleged involvement.
Shupena and Shuman were detained in custody.
