Manitoba’s police watchdog agency, the Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) is looking into the circumstances surrounding the discharge of an off-duty RCMP officer’s service firearm.

The IIU says the incident took place on Saturday June 27, 2020, within the officer’s home. No one was injured during the incident.
IIU civilian director Zane Tessler has reviewed the circumstances and has determined it is in the public interest for the IIU to investigate.
