North End business busted for selling bear spray & cannabis

An Alfred Avenue business owner is in hot water after investigators with Manitoba Finance conducted an inspection on March 28, 2023.

Investigators along with officers from the Winnipeg Police Service seized 18 full cans of bear spray, three partial cans of bear spray and packaged cannabis products.

According to investigators the cannabis was not labelled for sale and the business was not licensed to sell cannabis or bear spray.

On April 7, 2023, a 28-year-old female was arrested and charged for her alleged involvement with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Selling Cannabis (Criminal Code/Cannabis Act)
  • Unauthorized Sale of Cannabis (LGCCA)
  • Possess Cannabis not Packaged, Labelled, and Stamped in Accordance with Federal Requirements (LGCCA)
  • Purchase a Restricted Pesticide Containing Capsaicin, and fail to complete and sign a declaration in the form set out in Form 7 of the Schedule (Pesticides and Fertilizers Control Act)
  • Possession of Cigarettes etc. not Manitoba Marked (Tobacco Tax Act)

She was released on an appearance notice as mandated by the Criminal Code.
