No risk to public in Royse Avenue investigation, say police

Winnipeg police have been on scene in the 1000 block of Royse Avenue in Fort Garry since Thursday night for what police are describing as an ongoing investigation.

Police are focusing their attention on one house although officers from the Tactical Support Team showed up in force at another home down the street around 10:00pm Thursday night.

Officers remained on scene overnight and all day Friday. On Friday evening at about 6:00 pm members of the Forensic Unit arrived on the scene and spent several hours inside a small house.

Winnipeg Police said in an email to News 4 that they are unable to provide details but confirmed that police are working an investigation at the location.

Police also noted that there is no risk to the public.

News 4 will update the storey as more information becomes available.
