The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) has completed its investigation into the police-involved fatal shooting of a 27-year-old male.
The incident happened around 4:47 am on March 10, 202 in the 100 block of Kowalsky Crescent. Police had responded to a report of a male attacking another male with a weapon. Police engaged the attacker which resulted in one of the officers shooting male.
IIU investigators went to the scene and began an investigation that included reviewing physical evidence, surveillance video of the entire incident, officer’s notes, reports. audio recordings from 911 and photographs taken from the Identification Unit.
The civilian director of the IIU determined that there are no grounds to justify any charges against the subject officer.
