Nine wildfires currently burning in Manitoba

There are currently nine active wildfires burning in Manitoba including one that prompted the evacuation of Pimicikamak Cree Nation on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.

The Manitoba Wildfire Service says that crews are working on the ground and in the air to battle the blaze that is about two kilometres from the northern community. Overnight conditions changed including rain and a shift in winds. Better conditions are expected in the area over the next 48 hours.

Wildfire danger in central and eastern Manitoba is high to extreme.
