News Report: Robbery in Winnipeg’s Empress Street Area

At approximately 6:45 p.m., a robbery occurred in the 1000 block of Empress Street. Two women, both in their 20s, were targeted by an unknown male suspect as they walked near a retail business. The assailant threatened the victims and demanded their belongings. During the encounter, he assaulted them with a large edged weapon, striking both women in the upper body. The suspect then fled the scene, having stolen one of the victims’ purses.

Fortunately, the injuries sustained by the victims were minor. They were promptly transported to a hospital and are in stable condition. The victims and the suspect were not previously acquainted.

The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation and is actively pursuing leads. As of now, no arrests have been made.
