Two suspects arrested for New Year’s Day murder

Winnipeg Police have two suspects in custody that they say were involved in the killing of 31-year-old Adam Travis Martin on January 1, 2019.

Investigators believe that Martin was socializing at a home on Nairn Avenue when two other men showed up. Soon afterwards a verbal disagreement erupted which quickly turned into a physical altercation and the victim was shot.

Police located one of the suspects in the case just after 5:00 am on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at a Nairn Avenue residence. The other suspect was captured 36 hours later at 5:20 pm on Friday, January 4, 2019, at a home on Kent Road.

Samuel Zanen Moneyas, 18 and Alexander Moar, 22 have both been arrested and charged for their alleged involvement in the death of Martin.

Moneyas is facing charges of Second Degree Murder and two counts of Fail to Comply Condition of Recognizance by Judge or Justice.

Moar was charged with Second Degree Murder, Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Firearm knowing its possession was unauthorized and Possession of a Firearm Contary to Prohibition Order.

Both accused were detained in custody.
