New restrictions ban the sale of lottery tickets in person

Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries (MLL) said on Friday that the sale of lottery products in the province has been deemed non-essential and effective 12:01 November 21, 2020, they will suspend lottery terminals in the province from selling or validating lottery tickets.

Some retailers in Winnipeg like 7/11 and Circle K have already seen their terminals shut off on Friday. MLL says that an exemption is in place for retail businesses in Thompson, Flin Flon and The Pas. Terminals in those northern Manitoba communities will not be suspended.

The suspension includes all draw based lotteries like LOTTO MAX, LOTTO 6/49, DAILY GRAND, WESTERN 649, WESTERN MAX, PICK 2, PICK 3, PICK 4, EXTRA, KENO and POKER LOTTO / ALL IN.

The sale of Scratch ‘n Win tickets (Zing tickets) have also been suspended along with Sport Select games including PROLINE, POINT SPREAD, OVER/UNDER, DOUBLE PLAY, POOLS, and PROPS.

Manitobans can still purchase certain draw-based game tickets through either Western Canada Lottery Corporation’s subscription service or PlayNow.com.

If you have a smaller amount winning ticket from a previous draw you can hold on to it until restrictions are lifted. For those with larger winning ticket prizes you can claim your prize by mail during the current restrictions.
