New President and CEO of Manitoba Hydro Announced

Allan Danroth has been named the new President and Chief Executive Officer of Manitoba Hydro, effective August 6, 2024, as announced by Ben Graham, Chair of the Manitoba Hydro-Electric Board. The announcement was made by Ben Graham, Chair of the Manitoba Hydro-Electric Board during a media conference at Manitoba Hydro’s head office in downtown Winnipeg.

Danroth will succeed Hal Turner, who served as the corporation’s interim President and CEO following the departure of Jay Grewal in February. Turner will continue in his role until August 5.

Graham expressed his pleasure at the appointment, stating, “We are extremely pleased to announce that Allan will be joining the Manitoba Hydro team following an extensive local and national search process that took place over the last few months.”

Danroth brings with him a wealth of experience, having held senior leadership positions in a variety of energy and resource businesses. He also has practical experience in power engineering, which Graham believes will be critical in guiding the utility forward in the coming years.

Prior to this appointment, Danroth served as Vice-President of Operations at Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries. He holds an M.B.A from Athabasca University, a First-Class Power Engineering designation, and a diploma in Marketing and Management Sciences from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.

“I am extremely excited to be joining Manitoba Hydro at such an important time for the utility,” said Danroth, expressing his enthusiasm for the new role.
