New personal care home for Carman says province

Just one day after the province announced a new 143-bed personal care home in Steinbach, Health, Seniors and Active Living Minister Cameron Friesen announced a 110-bed facility will be built in Carman.

The new facility will be similar to the one in Steinbach and will consist of groups of rooms being built in clusters that will have their own dining room, activity spaces and a large multi-purpose room. There will also be small private lounge areas. Each cluster will consist of 10 to 12 rooms. Within the facility there will also be administration offices, storage, staff areas, laundry, housekeeping and maintenance areas.

The project involves two phases. A new 80-bed facility will be constructed next to the existing 70-bed facility in phase one while phase two will see an additional 30-bed addition to the existing facility.
