New cases continue to climb with 36 reported on Sunday

Manitoba Public Health announced 36 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, August 16, 2020, as of 9:30 am. The total number of lab-confirmed and probable cases stands at 697.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 1.47 per cent.

Nine of the new cases are in the Prairie Mountain Health region, 21 new cases in the Southern Health region, one new case in the Interlake-Eastern Health region and five cases in the Winnipeg Health region.

The cases identified today include:

Interlake-Eastern Health region ONE CASE

  • One male in his 50s

Prairie Mountain Health Region NINE CASES

  • Two females and Two males under nine
  • Two males in their 30s
  • One male in his 40s
  • Two males in their 50s

Southern Health Region. 21 CASES

  • One female and one male from 10-19
  • One female and one male in their 20s
  • Three females and one male in their 30s
  • Three females in their 40s
  • One female and one male in their 50s
  • Three females and two males in their 60s
  • One female and one male in their 70s
  • One male in his 80s

Winnipeg Health Region FIVE CASES

  • One male between 10 and 19
  • Two males in their 20s
  • One male and one female in their 30s

Public health says that several of the Southern Health cases are linked to a known cluster.

There are currently 205 active cases of COVID-19 in the province with 483 people listed as recovered.

Nine people are being treated in the hospital of which three are in intensive care.

The number of deaths related to COVID-19 remains at nine.

1,669 laboratory tests were completed on Saturday. According to Manitoba Public Health the total number of completed tests since early February to 113,952.
