Province breaks ground for new Brandon school

Ground has officially been broken and the construction of a new kindergarten to grade 8 school in southeast Brandon has begun.

The $24.1 million project will create a 65,700 sq-ft facility that will accommodate 450 upon completion with capacity for an additional 200 when needed.

The school will also house a 74 space child-care centre, multi-purpose space, band room, library, gym, home economics and industrial arts labs, a grooming room and life-skills suite. Also in the new building will be resource teaching and support spaces and a science, technology, electronics and mathematics (STEM) lab.

The new school is scheduled to open in the fall of 2020.
