Never leave your vehicle running while unattended

Winnipeg Police issued a reminder to Winnipeg drivers to never leaver a vehicle running while unattended.

Police say that with extreme temperatures some people often leave their vehicles running to warm up then go back inside their home or workplace to stay warm themselves.

“Vehicles left running and unattended are quick and easy targets to be stolen,” said police.

In January 175 vehicles were reported stolen to the WPS. 100 of those vehicles were either left running with the keys inside or had the keys left somewhere inside the vehicle.

The WPS say that you should stay with your vehicle while it is running. You may also want to consider installing a remote starter. They also remind drivers to never leave a child or pet in an unattended vehicle.
