Manitoba’s Public Utilities Board (PUB) has green lit a request from Centra Gas Manitoba to increase the current Primary Gas rate by approximately 20.5 % for the average residential customer.
The rate jumps from $0.1343/m3 to $0.2055/m3 which equates to about $150 per year for the average homeowner.
The PUB cited increases in the North American natural gas market prices as the reason for the increase. They noted that primary gas is sold on a cost recovery basis and that Centra does not make a profit on primary gas sales.
Meanwhile, the Propane commodity rate fell by 5.6% or $115 per year for the average residential customer after the PUB approved the decrease requested by Stitch Utilities Manitoba effective May 1, 2022.
The Primary Gas and Propane rates will be reviewed again on August 1, 2022.
