Firefighters evacuated ten homes on Marygrove Crescent on Sunday afternoon, June 11, 2023, after a natural gas line was ruptured while a post hole was being dug.

When emergency crews arrived on the scene they found explosive levels of gas in a single-family home.

Firefighters evacuated the area homes after finding gas reading inside a second home while Hydro crews worked to stop the gas leak. Two cats were rescued from the second home and reunited with their homeowners.

Once hydro workers were able to pinch the line and stop the leak, firefighters ventilated the two home until the gas levels had returned to normal.

Residents were able to return to their homes after the leak had been stopped.
