RCMP Assistant Commissioner Jane MacLatchy announced on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, that they believe the bodies of murder suspects Kam McLeod and Bryer Schmeglsky were located.
MacLatchy said that the bodies were found less than one kilometre from where items linked to the pair had been discovered on Friday August 2, 2019 and about 8 kilometres from where the burnt vehicle was located.
The bodies were located this morning around 10:00 am in an area of dense brush.
RCMP say they are confident that the bodies belong to McLeod and Schmeglsky but an autopsy will be performed in Winnipeg to confirm their identities and the cause of death.

The suspects were wanted in connection to three murders in British Columbia in July of this year. Initially the pair had been thought of as missing persons but that quickly changed after the body of 64-year-old University of British Columbia lecturer Leonard Dyck was found on an isolated stretch of highway.
McLeod and Schmeglsky were charged with Second Degree Murder in connection to Dyck’s killing. They were also prime suspects in the shooting deaths of Australian Lucas Fowler, 23 and Chynna Deese, 24, from the United States.
Police had been searching the Giliam area in northern Manitoba since the vehicle they had been travelling in was found burnt out on July 22, 2019 north of the community.
