Youth charged

RCMP have rearrested the suspect in the killing of Evan Engbaek in Gimli on Tuesday, July 25, 2017.

18-year-old Engbaek was stabbed on Second Avenue just north of Centre Street in Gimli in broad daylight just after 1:00 pm.

On Wednesday police reported that they had arrested a suspect in the case but they released the individual without charge on Thursday morning.

Hours later during the evening Thursday, July 27, 2017, RCMP re-arrested the 16-year-old male suspect and have now charged him with Second Degree Murder.

The suspect cannot be named due to his age but police have confirmed that he is from Gimli.
