Multiple-Vehicle Collision Claims One Life on Highway 101 at Highway 15

In the early hours of July 30, 2024, a tragic multiple-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Highway 15 and Highway 101 (South Perimeter Highway), resulting in one fatality and several injuries.

At approximately 12:35 am, Oakbank RCMP responded to the scene where three pickup trucks and a semi-trailer were involved in the crash. Additional officers from Beausejour, St-Pierre-Jolys, Red River North, Selkirk, and the Winnipeg Police Service arrived to provide assistance.

Initial investigations revealed that three pickup trucks were traveling westbound on Highway 15 when one of the trucks made contact with another. This caused the first truck to lose control, veer to the right, and strike the side of a semi-trailer that was stopped at a red light in the southbound lane of the Perimeter Highway.

The collision between the two pickups caused the second truck to collide with the third westbound pickup. Both vehicles went through the intersection and came to rest on the west side of the Perimeter Highway.

Tragically, the male driver of the first pickup was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the second pickup was transported to a Winnipeg hospital with serious injuries, while the driver of the third pickup was treated and released on scene. All three drivers were in their 20s. The 69-year-old male driver of the semi-trailer was not injured.

Oakbank RCMP continue to investigate the incident.
