Multiple suspicious fires on Friday under investigation

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service to multiple suspicious fires in the same area on Friday afternoon, May 7, 2021.

Around 1:30 pm crews were called to a garbage fire in the 400 block of Sherbrook Street. When they arrived on the scene they found a mattress and garbage bin on fire and quickly brought it under control.

About 15 minutes later and about a block away crews responded to a fully involved garage fire. Officials say the flames extended to an adjacent home. An offensive attack was launched and both fires were declared under control at 2:43 pm.

At 3:30 pm a third fire in the area had crews responding. This time two vehicles and a nearby garage were on fire. An offensive attack was launched with the fire being declared under control by 4:23 pm.

A neighbouring house suffered heat damage from the fire.

All three fires are under investigation. Investigators do not know if the cause of any of the fires are connected to each other.
