Public Utility Board approves increase to Manitoba Public Insurance rates in 2018

Effective March 1, 2018, your vehicle insurance rates will be going up in Manitoba.

Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) was granted a 2.6% general rate increase from the Public Utilities Board (PUB), the government agency that regulates rates in the province.

Although the increase has been approved, individual insurance rates may not see that much of an increase based on the insured vehicle class, the vehicle use, where the vehicle is based and the driving record of the registered owner.

Aside from the general increase the PUB also granted an increase of 1.8% to the demerit scale for premiums.
