Man owes life to quick acting police officers
RCMP officers in the southeast part of Manitoba saved the life of a 20 year old man who may have overdosed on fentanyl Friday January 14th.
When police arrived on scene just after 11:00pm they found an unconscious male with low pulse rate and severe breathing difficulties. Officers could not wait for the ambulance still 8 minutes away so they administered a dose of nasal naloxone. It took two more doses before the patients vital signs and breathing stabilized. The man was taken to hospital and has since been released.
This is the first time nasal naloxone has been used by the RCMP in Manitoba.
Police also found suspected fentanyl at the location and seized it.
