Winnipeg Police Service called in a Mountain Avenue fire around 1:23 am Tuesday morning, January 12, 2021.
Officers were on patrol when they spotted smoke and flames coming from a three-storey home in the 300 block. They helped evacuate residents in the building as firefighters were enroute.
When Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service arrived they immediately launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 2:21 am.
Paramedics assessed several people from the building but none required hospitalization.
Winnipeg Transit buses were brought in to provide temporary shelter. The City’s Emergency Social Services team was also deployed to help occupants of the building find temporary housing.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
