A three-storey apartment building at the corner of Mountain Avenue and Atkins Street is a complete loss after a fire on Sunday morning, August 13, 2023.

Firefighters were called to the scene at 7:12 am and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure. Although an interior attack was launched crews had to transition to an exterior attack due to deteriorating conditions. Aerial ladders and hand lines were used to battle the fire throughout the day.

One person who was evacuated from the building was assessed by paramedics and treated at the scene.

Firefighters evacuated a neighbouring home as a precaution.

The area was closed to traffic while firefighters remained on the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation
