Winnipeg Police have charged the 20-year-old mother who abducted her 2-year-old son on Tuesday evening that prompted an Amber Alert.
The mother left a pre-arranged supervised visit in Winnipeg with her son without legal authorization police said. After an investigation by members of the WPS Missing Persons Unit, it was decided that the amber alert should be issued. At 8:07 pm the alert went out across the emergency system to thousands of cellular devices.
In just over three and a half hours after the child was taken and about an hour after the amber alert went out the mother drove to the RCMP detachment in Amaranth, Manitoba and turned herself in to police. The child was not injured.
In an issued statement on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, Winnipeg Police said the the mother Harlee Precious Wilson-Parenteau has been charged with Abduction Where No Custody Order.
She was released on an Undertaking.
