Manitoba Pubic Health has issued new orders in an effort to reduce the spike in COVID-19 cases in the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region.
Beginning on Monday, October 19, 2020, new restrictions come into effect for the region for a minimum of two weeks.
Indoor and outdoor gathering sizes have been reduced to no more than five people. This does not apply to members of the same household for private gatherings within the home.
Restaurants have been ordered to reduce capacity to 50 per cent and limit table sizes to no more than five
Beverage Rooms, Entertainment facilities, Casinos and Bingo Halls will be closed.
Venues must reduce the capacity for spectators to 25 per cent of a site’s capacity for after-school activities and sporting events.
Retail outlets must limit capacity to 50 per cent and lower gathering sizes in food courts and common ares to five people
Gyms and fitness centres will be required to collect contact information for all attendees.
Museums, galleries and libraries will be restricted to 50 per cent capacity and will be required to collect contact information from all attendees.

Dr Brent Roussin noted that all of the new restrictions are enforceable and enforcement will be stepped up with a possible increase in fines.
The new restrictions will be in effect for a period of two weeks but may be renewed with additional measures if the level of community transmission does not drop in the Winnipeg region.
