Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) has released additional information about the stolen vehicle and driver involved in a collision with a WPS cruiser on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.
Police say that the vehicle had been stolen on June 3, 2023 from Stonewall, Manitoba. During the incident officers tried to take the suspect into custody but he refused to follow directions and continued to try to evade police.
25-year-old Mckae Ledinghas has been charged for his alleged involvement with two counts of Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Cause Bodily Harm, two counts of Cause Bodily Harm by Criminal Negligence, Resist Peace Officer, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order.
He was detained in custody.
The two officers injured in the collision sustained serious injuriesand remain in hospital.
The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba is investigating the collision.
