On July 9, 2021, the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) announced that they were investigating an allegation of a sexual assault by an on-duty RCMP officer that happened on June 27, 2021.
Since that time a number of other incidents came to light and were reported to the IIU on July 28, 2021. According to the IIU these additional alleged sexual assaults occurred between October 29, 2018, and July 08, 2021.
The IIU has determined that it is in the public interest to investigate these additional incidents.
No other information is being released due to the sensitive nature of the investigation say the IIU.
