The Manitoba MLA who recently was accused of making inappropriate comments to a staff member announced on Wednesday he would not be seeking re-election in 2020.
Cliff Graydon, the MLA for Emmerson, said in a written statement sent to media that he has apologized to the individual for his remarks and that individual has accepted his apology.
“In light of this incident, and after a great deal of contemplation, I have also made a number of decisions that I wish to share publicly,” said Graydon “I have come to the decision that, while I plan to serve the remainder of the current term, I will not be seeking re-election in the next provincial election in 2020.”
Graydon went on to say that he also would be taking a medical leave effecitve immediately but would not elaberate on his medical condition citing privacy concerns.
The MLA also said in the statement that he would be taking more comprehensive sensitivity and respectful workplace counselling that will be determined by the tory caucus leadership.
