The body of a woman reported missing in Winnipeg was located on September 3, 2020, after members of the Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) received information of possible human remains in the RM of Portage la Prairie.
MFNPS contacted RCMP Major Crime Services.
The remains were found near Cottonwood Drive and have been identified as 36-year-old Tamara (Norman) Benoit. Benoit was reported missing to Winnipeg Police Service on July 10, 2020. She was last seen in the area of Portage la Prairie and Long Plain First Nation in May.
RCMP, Manitoba First Nations Police Service, Winnipeg Police Service and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are treating Benoit’s death as a homicide and continue to investigate.
