Minor changes to public health orders as Manitoba stays at critical

Manitoba announced on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, that they are making minor changes to the current public health orders set to expire on Friday. The entire province will remain at critical (red) on the Pandemic Response System.

After receiving feedback from more than 32,000 Manitobans the province has decided to allow gathering limits at outdoor places, weddings and funerals to increase from 10 to 25 people. Retail stores will still only be allowed 50 per cent capacity but the in-store limits increase to 500-person capacity, whichever is lower. Drive-in events will now allow people to leave their vehicles but they must still follow public health measures.

“We are carefully monitoring our hospitalization data and case numbers of cases linked to variants of concern to ensure that as we gradually reopen, we continue to have capacity in the system,” said Dr. Brent Roussin, Manitoba’s chief provincial health officer.

No changes to indoor or outdoor gathering sizes at personal residences. Rules for restaurants will also not change.

The new changes go into effect on Friday March 26 and are set to expire on April 15, 2021.
