Winnipeg Police say that during two separate assaults on Thursday, August 23, 2018, the suspects were believed to be high on methamphetamine.
Just before 6:00 pm a woman was approached by security after she left a store in Portage Place Shopping Centre setting off an alarm.
The woman removed a box of perfume from her bag and ran according to police. As security followed she threatened to stab him with a needle before punching him.
The woman was taken into custody and a search of her personal property located a needle.
While the woman was being held in the security holding room she spit in the face of a second security guard two times.
Amber Leah Thompson, 28 from Winnipeg is facing multiple charges for her alleged involvement including two counts of assault, theft under $5,000 and Uttering Threats to cause death or bodily harm.
Police say that they believed that she was high on meth during the incident.
She was detained in custody.
Earlier in the day police tried to stop a man on a bicycle for Highway Traffic Act offences when he took off riding his bike into oncoming traffic near Aikins Street and Burrows Avenue.
Police followed the man to the rear of an address on Alfred Avenue. At this point, the man confronted the officers and tried to push one of them to the ground.
Officers told the man he was under arrest but the man resisted and began struggling with them. The suspect was eventually handcuffed and taken into custody.
Nicholas James Lilke, 31 from Winnipeg is facing Resist and Assault Peace Officer charges for his alleged involvement.
Police say that they also believe that Lilke was high on meth at the time of the incident.
