Police use video surveillance to identify suspects
Brandon Police have two suspects in custody after the pair broke into a Douglas Street apartment.
It happened on Tuesday June 13, 2017. When security from the building was reviewing surveillance footage they noticed the two men entering an apartment with firearms.
The pair of thieves entered the apartment complex an approached the apartment carrying what appeared to be a bolt-action rifle and a handgun. The suspects tried to enter the apartment but were unable to. One of the men went outside and broke into the apartment through a window then opened the door for the other suspect. The men stole several items then left the apartment.
Both men were wearing disguises but did remove them at one point which was captured on the security video and allow police to identify them.
On Wednesday June 14, 2017 BPS officers were able to locate and arrest both men.
A 32 year old male and a 25 year old male, both from Brandon, were charged with Break, Enter and Theft, Disguise with intent, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm for their alleged involvement.
Both males were taken to the Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear in court Thursday.
Police say that the investigation is still on-going and so far they have not recovered the weapons used in the incident.
