The Winnipeg Police Service will be creating a memorial to honour police service dogs. Construction is set to begin later this year.
Officers have begun a fundraising campaign and invite the public to donate to the project by purchasing a personalized memory stone. The memory stones will be used to create a walkway at the memorial.
The Winnipeg Police Service K-9 unit began in 1971 and since has grown to support many operational units.
Police say that donations of any amount are welcome and tax receipts are available.
