Firefighters spent several hours battling a blaze in a vacant three-storey house on Mayfair Avenue on Thursday night, September 2, 2021.
Emergency crews were called to the structure at 10:42 pm and found a fully involved fire with heavy smoke and flames. A defensive attack was launched and when conditions improved it transitioned to an offensive attack but due to the damage inside the building firefighters were forced out. A defensive attack was re-established and the fire was declared under control at 12:45 am. Firefighters remained on the scene overnight putting out hot spots.
No injuries were reported. The building is considered a complete loss and had a previous fire in 2018.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
