Manitobans rally in support of the people of Ukraine

Hundreds of people rallied at the Manitoba Legislature on Sunday afternoon, March 6, 2022, to show their support to the people of Ukraine.

Rally goers were calling on NATO to enforce a no-fly zone over the eastern European country and increase sanctions as Russia continues their invasion.

Organizers of the rally are also calling on the Canadian government to provide more humanitarian aid to those impacted by the war.

Earlier this week Canada announced two programs for Ukrainians to come to come to Canada. One of the programs is aimed at people who want to move to Canada permanently and another that will provide authorization for emergency travel to Canada.

The UN estimates that more than 1.5 million people have fled Ukraine to neighbouring countries as the war enters its second week.
