MANITOBAN SAYS NO THANKS TO SENATE APPOINTMENT

It’s not often someone turns down a senate appointment in Canada but that’s what happened when Harvey Chochinov was asked to serve.

Chochinov is a psychiatrist and expert in palliative care. Last fall he was appointed to the senate by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to represent Manitoba along with two others.

Although the other two, Patricia Bovey and Marilou McPhedran, accepted their appointments Chochinov turned his down. He cited personal, professional and family reasons for no longer wanting to take his seat in the Red Chamber.
