Manitoba to spend $5 million on a new round of the bridge grant program

Manitoba announced on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, that they will be reopening the Bridge Grant Program to support seasonal businesses and those who did not previously apply.

Eligible storefront businesses will receive $5,000 and home-based businesses can receive up to $5,000 based on 10 per cent of their most recent calendar year revenues.

“We want to ensure this program includes new businesses or seasonal operations who could not apply for previous rounds of the Manitoba Bridge Grant so they have an opportunity to receive provincial government support,” said Manitoba Finance Minister Scott Fielding.

Additionally about 600 businesses that offered prepared food services like hotels, lodges, outfitters, bars and lounges will automatically receive the $2,000 food waste top-up grant that was provided to restaurants in May.

An new applicant to the program that offers prepared food services will receive a $5,000 grant plus the $2,000 top-up for a total of $7,000. The province says that new applicants will not receive retroactive payments fro previous rounds go the program. Businesses that previously received a bridge grant or who had their application rejected cannot reapply.
