Three Manitoba organizations, Siloam Mission, Riverwood Church Community Inc. and Tamarack Recovery Inc., will be receiving $2.1 million in funding from the provincial government to develop 70 supportive recovery housing units.
These units will provide a stable environment for adults who have completed primary addictions treatment. Organizations providing the housing will provide ongoing support to help residents fulfil their post-treatment plan such as finding work or going back to school.
“When people are completing their addictions treatment, they need access to stable housing and a safe place to live,” said Health, Seniors and Active Living Minister Cameron Friesen. “The investment in these organizations will help support people as they transition back into the community after completing treatment programs, helping them continue their recovery journey.”
Manitoba will be financing the one-time capital cost as well as operating funding. 20 units will be built at Siloam Mission, 40 units at Riverwood House in Elmwood and 10 units will be built by Tamarack Recovery Inc.
The goal is to have the additional units operational by March 31, 2021.
